The Work

The source materials for my collages include comic books, instruction manuals, product advertisements, and children’s activity books. I typically draw or paint on them a bit, too.

Past artist statements would tell you that these are “scenes of comical catastrophe” wherein “amalgamations of people, animals, and ordinarily-inanimate objects become characters in a ridiculous improvised narrative, plagued by miscommunication and cartoon violence, and frozen in moments when their stories teeter on the brink of cohesion or collapse.” But I would never say that stuff out loud.
